Gaviota Peak Elevation Profile

26 Nov. 2012

On my 5th hike up to Gaviota Peak I captured the elevation profile of the hike.  My daughter Amber helped me make it to the top.  The day was cool and overcast, and the view was terrible.  I have actually included some photos from a earlier hike to show what the views look like on a clear day.

I have provided the El profile before the pictures.  I started with the overview, and then broke in down into smaller part for better viewing.  It is clear to see that on the Trespass trail portion, the grade increases up to 20% between mile 2.25 and the peak at 3.25 mile.  That is a tough mile.  The trespass trail is between 0 and 3.25.  The regular trail is between 3.25 and the end.
