Big Pine Mountain Photo Album
Big Pine is not close to anything
There is nothing out there but nothing
Dave’s route - Black arrow is how far I got
The service road starts in a red rock canyon area
The starting altitude
The service road starts off - kinda OK
The 1st mile or 2 is not too steep
The intersection of Dry Canyon Road
I never pass up a shade tree like this one
This passes for a creek in California
These tracks were big and old, but not sure what it was
I did not, however, want to meet it
These empty hiker boots near by may or may not be connected to the tracks
2nd locked gate
Altitude at gate
After 2nd gate, road is rougher with more dirt
it is becoming a very unfriendly road
Especially unfriendly to old men
The next picture shows 4 levels of the road
The one I am standing on, and the 3 red arrows
The straight portion I killed myself to get to, truned out to be…..
not the level portion I had imagined
and the way ahead (red arrow) did not look great
This is about where the red arrow was on previous picture
Its where I reached the 4 hour point
4 hours or not, I was at the end on my road LOL
The trip back was more dangerous, but it was a hell of a lot easier
After 5 hours and 14 minutes
