Day 1 started with a 3 hr. drive from Santa Maria just to get to Big Sur. (1 hr extra due to road closures) We parked by the Pacific and started the 8.5 mile hike to our camp ground. We had to climb over and down 2 high ridges to get there, but it was worth it. The camp was beside fast moving creek with a roaring waterfall.
