This is a hike to Alexander Peak, but it is really a story about the Santa Cruz trail. On our two previous hikes to Little Pine we had used the Santa Cruz trail. The trail was in bad shape. When Dave heard that a lot of repair work had been done, we decided to see for ourselves, and take the opportunity to hike to Alexander Peak instead of Little Pine. You can decide for yourself how much progress was made in preventing the mountain from going where it wants to go.
There was one very important new item I was able to document. On previous hikes we had seen mountain bike tire tracks on the trail. I had never mentioned it before because I was sure no one would believe me. However, I now have photo proof that there are people that are stupid enough to ride a bike down Santa Cruz trail.
