The Lost Valley Canyon is in the Los Padros National Forest and is part of the San Rafael Wilderness. The trail from the Nira campground splits into the Lost Valley trail and the Manzana narrows trail. The Lost Valley trail leads to the Hurricane Deck. Since this was a day hike, we only went as far as the Twin Oaks camp, which is about 3/4 way there.
We entend to do a 2 night backpacking hike that will include the Hurricane Deck, and this hike was basically determine the condition of the Lost Valley trail.
