Mt McKinely is in the Los Padres National Park
A forest service road gets you within 1/2 mile of the top of McKinely Peak
The last section of off the road
Altitude at the start
We started early -just after sunrise
It is a good hiking trail, it just heads UP all day
There are a couple of picnic tables along the way, very much appreciated
Nice views of the Pacific along the way (under the marine layer)
Different views, but always UP
Intersection of the Big Cane trail is about 3/4 of the way to the top
The McKinely Springs camp is great
It has lots of water, and a green bottle
Altitude at the camp
You can see where the trail leads ahead
We finally arrive at the trail to the peak
The trail leads up behind Dave
It is further out to that little point than it looks,
,,,but we made it
From the top you can see a long way, as the following pictures show
Altitude at the top
Happy old camper
A slight rest before heading back
We also met a deer heading back
Looking West
Dead tired and you can see the trail ahead goes down, around, and down -down
It was a Very Long Day
