The hike to Angles Landing must start EARLY
Get to the shuttle while no one is in line
The climb up from the river valley
The climb gets steep
The destination: Angles Landing, far far away
If you look very close you can see beauty
After the first section of switchbacks - the canyon
A very contforbale almost level section
Then comes the 21 switchbacks of Walters Wiggles
21 Wiggles that climb and climb
MOVIE: At Scouts Lookout
Finally Scouts Lookout and a view of Angles Landing
The bottom of the ridge starting up
Lots of rocks to climb over
It is a steep climb
It keeps getting steeper
The pictures make the ridge look wide, it was not!
The last super steep climb
Last segment to the top
The narrowest section, and the drop off to right
Same rock, drop off to left. I should have got the chain in this picture also, but taking the perfect picture was not my only consideration at the moment1
This is the same rock from a travel brochure going up
Same rock coming back, from brochure
This is the nice wide section at the top on the way to the look out point, from brochure
From top looking back to Scouts Lookout, you see the other part of the “ V "
I marked Scouts Lookout with an arrow
The top looking south
Looking north
Bus stop area below
Beautiful views everywhere
MOVIE: At the top
I was just glad to be here
Some views from the lookout
MOVIE: The valley north and south
MOVIE: Zion Shuttle bus stop
Some of the cliface did not look solid, but I assume it was
Most of the cliface was solid rock
..but not always wide
When I came by here there was no silly grin on my face, and i was not touching the chain lightly with my fingertips.. I think I crushed a few chain links
This women shares my love for the chain. I took pic from a brochure because I did not have a free hand available to use camera when I did this section
Most of the trail was on the skinny thin ridge-line
Some was simply climbing over boulders
The chain helps; but it is still tough going
The ridge-line was super thin, with a sheer cliff on each side
All the hikers were very helpful and courteous. I helped by letting younger faster folks get around me
Anywhere you looked there was interesting stuff
I think they left off a few items under Hazarous
After Scouts Lookout; the trip down was all smiles
The bus stop at Angles Landing
The Zion Brewery just inside the Park boundary
They have some very strange laws in Utah !!
