Road to Jameson Lake

In 2008  there was a movie titled ” No Country for old men”. They did not identify where that country was; - but I now know where it is. The forest service road to Jameson Lake – that’s it. Old men should never go there.....

The hills above Santa Barbara contain the water reservoirs for several surrounding cities. I am very familiar with the large Lake Cachuma, and though I have never been there, I knew there was a Lake Gibraltar further up the mountains. I had never heard of the third reservoir, Jameson Lake. You can drive within 8.5 miles of the lake, so I thought a Mt. Bike over a service road to reach it would be no big deal. I was wrong!

There is a lot of up & down on the way, but the first thing you notice about the service road is it is all downhill for about 2 miles. During that very steep descent, you keep thinking, “I will be back here is 4 hours or so and how am I gonna make it back up this damn hill”. The answer is much pain & suffering.. LOL

I only took a few pictures, and they can be accessed by clicking here
