Lama Dog                                         19 June 2025

I did the ride down to the Lama Dog brewery in Santa Barbara. Which I have done many times.  It is a 56 mile ride from Lompoc.   I normally post a lot of pictures, but this time I will try to post a few videos, and a very large video.    The 1st video is the drop down to, and through Gaviota pass.  The problem is there was fog that morning, and it did not lift until just before the bottom.  The path through the pass is OK, but there are no real good shots of the mountains on each side of the pass.  There is a lot of history associated with this pass.  If you look up the history of California, Gaviota has a chapter all its own.  I will show some historical pictures before there was a real road.  For a long time, it was impossible to get cars or trains through this area.

The second video is the famous Bridge of Death, (never use this term around my wife) which is always interesting. 101 is a very busy freeway with lots of traffic.  There is no way to cross this area, except the bridge.  There is NO SHOULDER on the bridge.  You must ride in the traffic lane.  Like I said, interesting.

The last video is the final access to the beach area, and the ride along the beach all the way to the brewery.  It’s is a long video, but if you are interested in what people in California at the beach look like, you may enjoy it.

The Lama Dog is a great brew-pub with very good food.
