I have hiked by Cachuma Mountain on my way to other places, but I never thought of going to the top when it was so easy to just walk around the peak.  The description of the peak is below:

Also as part of the description, it specifically said to hike around the peak, and then go up the back side.  When we approached the front side, we thought we could see a possible route to the top.  BIG MISTAKE.  We got 3/4 of the way up and had to turn around.

When you ignore directions, you get the spike in front of the elevation data.

There is actually a very good hiking over a service road to the peak

…but it got worse..

Not good but better, with a little hiking, scrambling, and crawling, I made it to the top
