We planned a simple hike to the Real Pt. Sal. We intended to go there by the most direct route. Straight cross country to the ridge-line, and then down the ridge to the point. The only time we would be on the official trail was when we crossed the road. A quick look at our completed route map shows we failed the straight-line test. By the time we got near the ridge-line, we were following old cow paths. We go off on the wrong one and ended up going a much different and more difficult route. We did however, come back the straight-line route.
Its interesting to note that the roughest part of the trail had once been a paved road. It is now so overgrown with bushes that it’s hard to believe that it was once clear. Enough time can change anything.
