Our first trip to Cone Peak was simply up the Vicente trail, over to the Cone Peak trail, - and return. On this trip we wanter to see different trails and camp sites. We ended up doing a loop using 6 different trails that completed a loop around Cone Peak.
Rather than describing the entire 3 days at once, I will break up the hike by describing each trail with the pictures for that trail. The hike went as planned, accept for two items.
1. The trail down to the Ojiti camp site was much much worse than we thought. We would have turned around after seeing the obstacles except for the two S's. Stubbornness and Stupidity.
2. At the end of a long second day we anticipated camping at the only picnic table in the Vicente camp. It was a Tuesday, so we expected all the weekend campers to be gone. However, someone else was camped there, and we had to camp elsewhere. It may not sound like much, but sitting at a table for a 67 year old is much better than a rock or log...
